You'll still have full control over timber selection, size, base design, and resin colour, and every piece is crafted to highlight the natural grain and character of the wood.

Are there workshops for CNC timber projects? I don't run public workshops. Instead, every project goes through one-on-one collaboration with me directly, so you get full design input and a professional outcome.

Are you an experienced CNC operator? Yes — CNC machining is at the core of how I work, not an add-on. I've spent years operating and programming CNC equipment, including large-scale structural and architectural projects, precision jigs and templating, and intricate detail work like fretwork and engraving. That background is what lets me combine machine-level precision with hand-finishing on every custom piece I build.

What makes your CNC work different from off-the-shelf timber products? Off-the-shelf pieces are made to a generic template. My CNC work is set up specifically for your project — whether that's a one-off engraving, a complex wall arch pattern, or a replica of an existing design — so you get genuine precision without losing the handcrafted feel.

Do you provide CNC machining for custom projects? Yes — I offer CNC machining for custom wall arches, decorative interior panels, engravings, fretwork, and complex timber components that need high precision, drawing on years of CNC experience across furniture and larger architectural work.

Wall Arches & Decorative Panels

Do you design custom wall arches? Yes — wall arches are one of my specialties. Each one is designed and CNC-cut specifically for you: your dimensions, your timber, and your level of detail, from clean minimalist arches through to intricate fretwork patterns.

Can wall arches work as interior decorative panels? Yes — that's exactly how most of mine are used, as a statement feature for an entryway, living room, or feature wall. They're built as one-off interior decorative panels rather than generic wall decor, so no two are the same.

Can you match a wall arch to a specific theme or design? Yes — I've built wall arches and panels around specific themes and imagery (a dragon-themed wall arch is one example in the gallery), so if you have a concept in mind, I can develop it into a custom design.

What timber and finish options are available for a wall arch? Same as my furniture work — you choose the timber, and every arch is finished with durable, high-quality coatings to protect it and highlight the grain and detail of the cut.

Why do you have ready-made coffee tables available? The stock pieces I have on hand aren't mass-produced — they're pieces I've built to explore a design idea, a resin technique, or a particular level of finish, and they double as a way for you to see the actual quality and craftsmanship of my work in person before committing to a custom build. If one suits your space as-is, it's available; otherwise, they're a good reference point for what a custom piece from me will look and feel like.

Custom Orders & Process

How do I start a custom furniture project? Get in touch with your idea, dimensions, or inspiration, and I'll guide you through the process — design, timber selection, sizing, and finishes, one-on-one.

Can I choose the exact timber slab for my piece? Yes. Where possible, I'll involve you in selecting the slab so you know exactly what your final piece will look like.

Can I customise the size, shape, and finish? Yes — every piece is made to order, so you have full control over dimensions, form, and finishing details.

Can you match or recreate an existing furniture design? Yes. I can replicate or adapt an existing design while still delivering a handcrafted, high-quality finish.

How much does a custom piece cost? Pricing depends on size, timber type, and complexity. Resin river tables typically range from around $600 to $2,600 — many pieces are cast thicker than standard so more of the resin's depth and colour shows through, which adds to the cost but delivers a more striking result. Resin inlay tables generally sit below full river tables in price, since they use less resin overall while still giving you that wood-and-resin look. Get in touch with your idea and dimensions and I'll give you a tailored quote.

Do you require a deposit? For custom orders up to $1,800, I require full payment upfront. For orders between $1,800 and $3,000, I ask for a 50% deposit. For larger builds over $3,000, it's 75% upfront. Stock items are paid in full at time of purchase.

Is the consultation in person or online? Consultations are held at my Melbourne workshop — it's the best way to see materials in person and talk through design options and finishes face to face.

Can I choose the resin colour and style? Yes. Resin colour, transparency, and effects are fully customisable — from subtle natural tones to bold statement finishes, whether it's a full river pour or a smaller inlay.

Where can I find unique handcrafted resin river tables for my living room? Right here — I design and build custom resin river tables locally through OutTa Timber, sized and finished for how you'll actually use the space, whether that's a statement coffee table for a living room, a dining table centrepiece, or something smaller like a side table. Each piece is handcrafted with a focus on quality materials, precision, and a design that's unique to you — no two builds are the same.

Do you make custom chess sets from timber and resin? Yes — I make custom chess sets to order, and you can choose the timber type, resin colour, and overall design.

Can I order other custom timber pieces beyond tables? Yes. Alongside tables, I take on wall arches and other decorative interior panels, fretwork, engravings, and other bespoke timber designs.

Do you make smaller items, or only large furniture pieces? Both. Alongside larger furniture and wall arches, I also make smaller pieces — custom chess pieces (set of 16) start from $25, chess boards from $250, and side tables from $199.

Quality, Materials & Delivery

What types of timber do you use? I use a range of high-quality timbers depending on the project, chosen for durability, grain, and visual impact.

Are your pieces sealed and protected? Yes — every piece is finished with durable, high-quality coatings to protect the timber and enhance its natural features.

Do you use reclaimed timber? I use reclaimed timber where it's available, which gives a more sustainable option with added character.

Do you deliver across Melbourne and Australia? Yes. I arrange delivery across Melbourne and Australia depending on the size and requirements of the piece.

Can these pieces be used outdoors? Timber is best kept away from ongoing weather exposure, though short-term outdoor use is fine — the same goes for direct sun. Occasional exposure is fine, but pieces shouldn't be left in direct sun permanently.

How do I care for a resin or timber piece? A glass cleaner or dishwashing liquid is all you need for regular cleaning. I use one of the best non-yellowing resins available in every build, so pieces hold their clarity and colour well over time — many of my pieces are now over a year old and still look as good as new.

What happens if there's an issue with my piece? Get in touch with me as soon as possible. Transit damage — let me know within 12 days of delivery with photos, so I can lodge a claim. Overstock returns — accepted within 21 days of delivery; a stocking fee may apply. New custom builds — covered for 31 days from delivery. Outside these windows I'm still happy to chat, but I can't guarantee a resolution.

Timing & Expectations

How long does a custom piece take to make? Timeframes vary by project. Most made-to-order pieces are completed within 21 days. Resin table projects typically take 8–10 weeks after slab selection, due to curing and finishing — I'll confirm a direct timeline with you at the time of purchase.

Is every piece unique? Yes — natural variation in timber means every piece I make is unique. The exception is CNC-based work, where I can reproduce designs with precision if that's what you need.

Delivery

Do you deliver, or is it pickup only?
Both. Local pickup from the Bayswater workshop is free, and I offer free delivery across Melbourne metro and a bit beyond. For anything further out, freight or courier charges apply, and some pieces have a fixed rate to major Australian cities through a local depot. Full details are on the [Policy page].

Yes. Live-edge slabs pair naturally with resin work — the raw, natural timber edge against a poured resin fill is one of the combinations I build most often, whether that's a coffee table, dining table, or a smaller feature piece. Every slab is different, so live-edge pieces are always custom.

What's a resin inlay coffee table, and how is it different from a river table?
A resin inlay table uses resin to fill cracks, voids, or a defined pattern within a single piece of timber, rather than casting a full "river" of resin down the centre. It's a more affordable way into resin furniture while still showing off the clarity and depth resin gives a piece — a good option if a full river table is more than you need.

Yes, resin river tables are one of the pieces I build most — with a timber slab on either side of a poured resin "river" down the centre, made to be a genuine centrepiece for a living room. Every table is custom to size and finish, and I use different resin systems depending on the depth and effect needed, from deep-pour resin to UV-cured detail work.
